I am an Artist and Cottage Gardener with a passion for Cornflowers. Poppies and Delphiniums. I grow and sell old-fashioned, often scented flowers from a little blue shed. I also run creative Workshops. Why not come and paint, colour, stitch or craft yourself happy in my studio which is full of vintage finds, haberdashery and treasures?
I live a creative life in an 1886 old School House in the Dartmoor National Park. A collection of garden ‘rooms’ full of Cottage Garden flowers wrap around it and the views from here sweep down the meadow and then rise up to the moor in quite a spectacular fashion.
The garden is full of sweet places to sit and include a rustic garden shack, a venerable summer house, a little arbour in a cutting garden as well as a vintage caravan covered with Hollyhocks.
Cornflowers, Sweet Peas and Snapdragons in the garden all inspire me as I grow, paint and stitch them into my work. For me, a creative lifestyle enables me to express empathy, sensitivity and gentleness. And whilst involved in the challenges of making something new it distracts me from difficulties and brings me huge comfort and joy.
This style of living is hugely appealing because it requires an open heart, it increases a sense of well being and it also has the potential to bring people together helping them to discover hidden talents. These talents are often things we haven’t explored since childhood.
And this is why I have started hosting workshops in my studio, because creating something with others really nurtures a sense of togetherness and well-being.
My creative mind is only stilled by keeping my hands busy and occupied. So there are no shortage of lovely things to paint and make here.
